Sometimes it’s not a birthday, anniversary or special occasion that brings a person to mind; sometimes it is something as mundane as a web hosting renewal request. I don’t need an occasion to think of my late sister-in-law Susan; I need only look around my house. Gifts she’d given me, photos of her in happy times (especially the one of her at Mi Casa in Cabo being photo bombed by a mariachi band), and things that came to us from her apartment after she died keep her close to me every day. Though I will say her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, will soon be upon us, and I feel her spirit even more keenly then.

But the website dedicated to Susan Bullock and her poetry was up for renewal, decisions had to be made, and we thought it best to perhaps bring Susan “home”. So Susan Bullock Poetry was incorporated into The Chipman Inn’s website, her family’s business in Ripton, Vermont, a place she loved and where her ashes are buried.
My friend and web designer Deb Nettles of Nettles Design added the pages to the inn’s site, and she did a lovely job giving Susan’s work its new home. You can see it here.
So I will leave you with one of her poems; I hope she is “singing still”.
I miss you, sweet girl.
THE LIFE I LIVE NOW
“The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith.”
I have persevered against those who have sinned
And through God’s governance in history
Justice and order may be born of bloodshed.
Are the wounds in fact healed?
O, the crusading ghost held me in good stead,
The shell has peeled away from the soul,
There are still musical provisions for the journey.
Eternity is no longer sought after…
Eternity is peace, eternity is found in peace,
The peace that is within oneself,
The peace that some others cannot seem to find.
I was shattered. Yet I am singing still.
My poems outnumber the cries of those who rage,
Of those who tried to destroy me
And wrestle me out of my own age.

What a wonderful tribute for a wonderful woman… Bringing her home sounds perfect!
Sweet!
Beautiful. Lovely. Perfect.
I also think of Susan frequently and miss her. She will always live in our hearts.
I am sure Susan saw this and it made her smile up there in heaven. Loving tribute.
xoxo,
Jenifer
