We are back home, safe, sound and healthy. The 100 MPH winds in parts of Europe delayed our flight from Bergen to Amsterdam but we made our connection, although it was a bumpy and longer flight home because of the headwinds.

Viking was very stringent about Covid protocols. We were tested daily, and given a copy of our last test to get back in the U.S. Everyone was masked unless eating or drinking, and to our knowledge there was only one positive test aboard the ship. Interestingly while we had to sign an attestation form for the U.S., which was collected by KLM prior to boarding, no one ever asked us for our test results when returning to the states.

So my favorite parts of this adventure? Hard to choose! Reindeer, huskies, lynx, wolves, moose and arctic foxes, beautiful landscapes, wonderful travelers and staff, and the food! Having dessert and a glass of Prosecco with lunch, fixed menus with wine pairings at the Chef’s Table, pasta with truffles at Manfredi’s, foie gras and veal liver so expertly prepared and sauced, more salmon than you could shake a stick at, afternoon cappuccinos and caramel cookies, and my nightly Aquavit. And I didn’t have to make any of it. But while the bucket list had reindeer and wolves on it the big one was the Northern Lights. I’m blessed to have seen them.

I heard from a few of you that my earlier posts had some issues with photographs; I’m sorry about that. I’m working on the issue but quite frankly I’m liking the slideshows! So I decided to hit the highlights as a recap of our trip. I hope you enjoy, along with more music by Edvard Grieg. Until next time!
